“For a man who went through all, believed in me,” Dinesh Karthik credits Rohit Sharma for his comeback in the Indian team

Dinesh Karthik is expected to play a huge role for India in the T20 World Cup 2022.

Indian wicketkeeper batter Dinesh Karthik has heaped rich praise on skipper Rohit Sharma. He credited the opening batter for his comeback in the Indian team and called him the light at the end of the long tunnel for him.

Dinesh Karthik’s career has been a roller coaster ride. The keeper batter was on the sidelines after the Cricket World Cup 2019 and no one had thought that he would be back in the Indian side with the emergence of young players like Sanju Samson, Rishabh Pant and Ishan Kishan.

Karthik despite being on the sidelines, kept working hard and his hard work paid off in the IPL 2022, where he scored 330 runs at an incredible strike rate of 183.33. His staggering performances were the reason behind his being recalled to the Indian squad for the upcoming T20I series against South Africa.

After being recalled into the Indian side, Australia has made his presence felt in the. He played many cameos for his side and also smashed his maiden T20I half-century after his comeback and was also selected in the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup.

Karthik now has opened up about his comeback and has credited Rohit Sharma. In his Instagram post, he said:

“For a man who went through all, believed in me & always had time for me and showed light at the end of the tunnel for that I am ever grateful. That is for me is Rohit Sharma”.

Dinesh Karthik likely to play ahead of Rishabh Pant in the T20 World Cup 2022

His performances of late have given him the spot of the first-choice wicketkeeper in the side. Despite Rishabh Pant being in the side,  he has managed to retain his place in the XI. It is also likely that he will play all the games in the T20 World Cup 2022 and is expected to play a crucial role for the side in the tournament.
