AB de Villiers and Jimmy Neesham are two of the biggest hitters of the ball in T20 cricket right now. Both international stars are part of the two of the most popular franchises in the Indian Premier League right now – Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians, respectively. The two franchises are set to lock horns in the second phase of the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League this Sunday.
Before the battle between the Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Mumbai Indians, a fan posted a video from AB de Villiers’ innings against the Deccan Chargers during the 2012 edition of the Indian Premier League. It was the game where de Villiers destroyed his compatriot and good friend Dale Steyn in the battle of bat and ball.
When AB de Villiers played one of the best knocks in IPL history
Deccan Chargers battled the Royal Challengers Bangalore in an away match at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium during the league stage of the 2012 edition of the Indian Premier League. The visitors batted first and scored 181/2 in the first innings, after some top-class batting from the trio of Daniel Harris, Shikhar Dhawan and Cameron White.
In the second innings, the Royal Challengers Bangalore got off to a great start, with TM Dilshan scoring 71 runs. However, the Deccan Chargers bounced back taking five wickets. They reduced RCB from 102/1 to 143/5. AB de Villiers then joined forces with Syed Mohammed in the middle. The South African star showed no relent to the Deccan bowlers as he aggregated 47 runs off just 17 deliveries, smashing five fours and three sixes.
Jimmy Neesham reacts to a shot played during that innings
A fan uploaded a video clip of that batting performance by AB de Villiers from the match between the Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Deccan Chargers. Dale Steyn bowled that delivery, and de Villiers dispatched it for a maximum. It was during the 18th over of the RCB innings.
The fan asked the Mumbai Indians all-rounder how he would rate the shot that de Villiers played against Dale Steyn that night. Like the bowler Steyn, Neesham was amazed by the shot and had no hesitation in giving it 10 on 10.
