‘If Rizwan sustains an injury, no one is there as his backup’-Danish Kaneria feels that Sarfaraz Ahmed should have been selected in the ICC World T20 2022

Former cricketer Danish Kaneria thinks that wicketkeeper-batter Sarfaraz Ahmed ought to have been chosen in Pakistan’s team for the Twenty20 World Cup 2022 as a substitute for Mohammad Rizwan.

Kaneria said on his YouTube channel how Sarfaraz has been displaying outstanding batting form as of late and praised his performance. He stressed the fact that the selectors needed to have moved forward with the more experienced players rather than have Mohammad Haris as one of the reserve players.

He felt that the team management should have provided Haris with continuous opportunities after the Twenty20 World Cup. Kaneria said that owing to his lack of experience, he may not be able to make a meaningful effect if Rizwan sustains an injury while competing in the main event.

What is Danish Kaneria say?

According to Kaneria: “Sarfaraz Ahmed should think of himself as unfortunate to have missed out on this opportunity. During the current National T20 Cup, he has amassed a significant number of run scores. What more does he need to accomplish? On the other side, Mohammad Haris has not done too well. The leadership is looking to the future, but this is the World Cup. After the World Cup is over, they should consider allowing Haris to prove himself. If Rizwan sustains an injury, no one is there as his backup. You don’t want to use a player who is inexperienced in a competition like this one since he will just compete to keep his own spot.”

Kaneria went on to say that every top team would be able to choose from a variety of players to fill the position of keeper-batter in their lines for the Twenty20 World Cup in 2022. In his opinion, the Men in Green ought to have taken a hint from other teams and added Sarfaraz to the roster, considering the fact that he has an excellent record in the format.
