“Captain can’t do much if bowlers don’t perform”, Bhuvneshwar Kumar backs Rishabh Pant ahead of the second India vs South Africa T20I

Team India lost to South Africa by seven wickets in the first game in Delhi. Although the batters had done well to post a total of 211, the bowlers could not defend it. Hence, after the game, Rishabh Pant‘s captaincy came under the scanner. Now, senior bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar has come out in his support. In this article, we take a look as Bhuvneshwar Kumar backs Rishabh Pant ahead of second India vs South Africa T20I.

Bhuvi speaks ahead of the second India vs South Africa T20I

Rishabh Pant was appointed as the captain of Team India after KL Rahul got ruled out due to a groin injury. On his captaincy debut, Pant made a few debatable decisions, including that of not completing Yuzvendra Chahal’s quota of overs. The bowlers, too, could not do well on their part and that resulted in the loss.

Ahead of the second game in Cuttack, Bhuvneshwar Kumar said, “Poor bowling made us lose 1st match. Captain can’t do much if bowlers don’t perform. Don’t have senior bowlers in the squad, juniors need to improve on their performance. I am hopeful of a comeback with better bowling”

Bhuvneshwar Kumar is leading the pace attack for the squad and it was good of him to back the young captain. It needs to be seen how the Delhi lad would go about in the next games.

The bowlers need to put on a better show

Barring Avesh Khan, all the Indian bowlers conceded runs at more than ten runs per over. At one point, the game was firmly in India’s grasp but some under-par bowling at the death opened the floodgates for South Africa. India could not recover from that. However, all players have a good experience either in IPL or at the international level and hence, they will be backed to make a comeback.
