“Bubble fatigue also creeps in” says Bumrah after India’s loss to NZ in ICC’s T20 World Cup Cricket Tournament

Team India have been on the ground playing since the beginning of April this year & their bubble fatigue clearly looks on the performance.

Team India is one of the teams in the cricket world which plays cricket constantly in the country & at the international level. Because of the pandemic in the beginning of 2020, they are playing cricket in a bubble for their own safety. Since the beginning of April 2021, team India is constantly on the field either for Indian Premier League or World test Championship or other different international tournaments against different teams.

Their ‘Bubble fatigue’ is clearly visible & it is showing its affects in the ongoing T20 World cup. At first they lost to their arch rivals Pakistan & on Sunday they had a crushing defeat against New Zealand. Team India is at the 5th position in the Group 2 & it clearly looks difficult for them to make it to the semi-finals.

Jasprit Bumrah, India’s death over expert, was recently asked about the same issue by the reporters. To which he agreed & said “Absolutely, sometimes you need a break. You miss your family. You’ve been on the road for six months.”

“So all of that sometimes play on the back of your mind. But when you’re on the field, you don’t think of all those things … Obviously staying in a bubble and staying away from your family for such a long period of time does play a role.”

“The BCCI also tried their best to make us feel comfortable … It’s a difficult time. There’s a pandemic going on, so we try to adapt but sometimes bubble fatigue, mental fatigue also creeps in.”

India’s batting order was completely destroyed in front of Kiwi’s bowling attack. In the 11th over, India was 48-4 & Bumrah said that India’s batsman were really trying hard to play a good innings & wait for the right time hit big shots.

“We tried to give us some cushion. We wanted to get extra runs that could give us an advantage in the second innings,” Bumrah said.

The chances to qualify for Semis clearly look difficult of Indian team. Kohli’s army is yet to play three more matches at the Super12 stage against Afghanistan, Namibia & Scotland. Fans will be having high expectations & team India will have to work hard to make a their space for upcoming semis.
