“Attack the stumps right from ball one” – Adam Gilchrist expects the Aussies to change their mentality against Team India in Border Gavaskar Trophy series

Australia and Team India have by far been the most consistent teams in the ongoing cycle of the ICC World Test Championship. While the Aussies are on top of the points table, Team India are placed second.

Fans across the world are curiously waiting for the Border Gavaskar Trophy series between Team India and Australia as both teams are fighting to book their respective berths for the ICC WTC final.

During the first cycle of the ICC World Test Championship, Team India and New Zealand made it to the finals. As it turned out, Kane Williamson and Co came through with flying colours by beating India by eight wickets.

Adam Gilchrist expects the Aussies to change their mentality

Meanwhile, former Australia wicketkeeper-batsman, Adam Gilchrist chipped in with a word of advice for Pat Cummins and Co going forward into the Border Gavaskar Trophy series against Team India.

The first of the four-match Test series will get underway on February 9 at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur, Maharashtra. It will be quite interesting to see which team will go on to take the first lead in the series.

Adam Gilchrist is pretty much confident that Australia can pull off an iconic Test series win against India this time around. The former cricketer also recalled the winning mentality that they had when they faced Team India in the 2004 series, in what was Australia’s only Test series win in India in six outings.

Adam Gilchrist also went on to break the spin myth in India by adding that the 2004 Australian team went on to defeat Team India with a bowling attack including three fast bowlers and one spinner.

Gilchrist who was the vice-captain in the 2004 series against India said that the players tweaked their mentality back then. He also suggested Pat Cummins and Co to attack the stumps from the word go. Besides that, he also urged the Aussies to swallow their pride quite a bit and told them to be defensive in order to be aggressive.
