England women’s cricket team player Alexandra Hartley has posted a tweet after IPL 2021 got postponed. Many cricket fans would know Hartley is one of the biggest fans of Royal Challengers Bangalore. She and her teammate Kate Cross are ardent followers of IPL.
While Alexandra Hartley is an RCB fan, Cross supports the Chennai Super Kings. Both RCB and CSK were having a fantastic season this year. The Royal Challengers Bangalore started the competition with four consecutive victories. On the other side, CSK lost the first match but then built a 5-match winning streak.
Since Hartley and Cross follow the league so closely, they would have been naturally disappointed after the BCCI indefinitely suspended the competition. Here’s the message Hartley sent to India after this development:
“Thinking about everyone involved in the current COVID crisis over in India! Sending all my love, stay safe.”
Kate Cross also had a similar reaction. She quoted the tweet from IPL’s official Twitter handle and replied:
“As disappointing as people will be to see this news, it’s the right decision. Health comes before cricket. All my thoughts are with everyone involved in the current COVID crisis in India.”
Kate Cross and Alexandra Hartley were not the only England women’s cricketers to react to this announcement
It seems many members of the England women’s cricket team follow the IPL closely. Apart from CSK fan Kate Cross and RCB fan Alexandra Hartley, Danielle Wyatt also posted a tweet, reacting to this development.
“So sad seeing a country I love so much go through this. Stay safe everyone. You will get through this,” Danielle Wyatt wrote.
The BCCI will suffer massive losses because of their decision to postpone IPL. However, they had to make this call because the virus breached the biosecure bubble. Hopefully, IPL 2021 will resume soon.
