The 2022 T20 World Cup has been a terrific event so far. Yes, rains have had an impact but the fact is that a few abandoned games have made the tournament interesting from a neutral point of view. At the same time, there has been plenty to learn for the fans of the game and in some cases, the players too. On that note, here, we take a look at how Twitter reacted as ICC T20 World Cup 2022 highlights many unknown cricket rules.
Many unknown cricket rules came up in the 2022 T20 World Cup
A few weeks ago, after Deepti Sharma executed a run-out at the non-striker’s end, there was a big debate on social media and off it, too. However, many forgot that at the end of the day, the form of dismissal was a part of the rule book and hence, there was nothing illegal about it. Ever since then, there has been a discussion about the laws of the game.
In the ongoing edition of the event, there have been multiple instances when some unknown cricket rules came into the picture. For instance, in the final over of the India vs Pakistan encounter, despite getting bowled off a free-hit, Virat Kohli ran for three byes. A few fans looked into the rule book and it was then it got known to many that the ball does not become dead if a batter gets bowled on a free hit. Similarly, in the Bangladesh vs Zimbabwe encounter, the final delivery of the game was a no-ball. The reason was that the wicketkeeper’s gloves were in front of the stumps while collecting the ball.
