A seemingly hurt Ishan Kishan shares motivational rap on Instagram story after being overlooked for Asia Cup

Ishan Kishan was regularly in the scheme of things of Indian team management after T20 World Cup last year

Ishan Kishan was one of the players whom the Indian team management regularly kept in the frame since the debacle in the last T20 World Cup and whenever the first-choice openers were not available, it was Ishan who opened for India most of the time in the shortest format of the game.

But, as the Asia Cup and the T20 World Cup came close, the management moved away from Ishan for some reason even though his performances were decent. The management promoted Rishabh Pant and Suryakumar Yadav at the top of the order, despite them being middle-order players for most parts of their international careers.

However, even with Rishabh Pant and Suryakumar Yadav opening the batting, Ishan Kishan was a part of India’s T20I squad till the most recent West Indies tour. However, when the Asia Cup squad was announced, Ishan’s name was not there even in the backup.

While the former Indian captain Virat Kohli and the current vice-captain KL Rahul returned to the side, with both expected to bat in the top 3, Deepak Hooda was also picked ahead of Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan for a backup slot in the top 3.

Shreyas Iyer was named among the three backup players for the tournament with Deepak Chahar and Axar Patel, while Ishan Kishan was left out of the scheme of things completely.

Ishan Kishan seems a bit hurt after being left out

The selectors and the team management might have their own reasons to not pick Ishan even among the backup players despite his consistent performances, but Ishan seems a bit hurt by it and it is reflected in one of the stories that he put on his Instagram account recently for his followers.

Ishan’s Instagram story is a part of the rap which tells a person not to repeat the mistake of being soft in any situation and rather turn himself into a fiery beast. Ishan would like to make a statement with his performances on the upcoming Zimbabwe tour where he would be playing in the ODI series as a wicketkeeper-batsman.
