Yash Dhull Joins Elite List Of Cricketers Who Scored Centuries On Both Innings Of Ranji Trophy Debut

The return of the Ranji Trophy brought smiles back on the faces of many. The tournament will also help Team India in having an eye on more talent in the country. Meanwhile, Yash Dhull made his debut in the first round of the Ranji Trophy. The Delhi lad wasted no time in breaking a few records. U19 World Cup-winning skipper Yash Dhull has joined the elite list of cricketers centuries on both innings of Ranji Trophy debut.

Yash Dhull off to a flier on FC Debut

Yash Dhull was in top form at the U19 World Cup. The way he went about his batting, many predicted that there will be a lot in store for the player. In line with this, Yash Dhull made his FC debut in the first round of this year’s Ranji Trophy. While he scored 113 runs in the first innings, in the second innings, he yet again made 113* runs. He took 150 balls for his knock in the first innings, while 202 balls were required in the second. With this, Yash Dhull got a century in both innings of his debut.

Especially in the first innings, it was terrific of the player to absorb the initial pressure. His team was down to 7-2 and opening the batting, it was necessary for Yash Dhull to not lose his wicket. He did that and helped Delhi post a total of 452 in the first innings. However, Tamil Nadu took the first-innings lead and went away with more points.

Rare list of players with centuries on both innings of Ranji Trophy debut

Before Yash, only two players previously have scored centuries in both innings of their Ranji debut. While Nari Contractor did it for Gujarat back in 1952/53 (152 & 102), Virag Awate did it for Maharashtra in 2012/13 (126 & 112). With this, Yash has joined an elite list and already managed to attract the attention of Indian cricket fans. It needs to be seen as to how he would do well in the remainder of the tournament.
