One of the top news after IPL 2022 Mega-Auctions is that Suresh Raina went unsold at the event. Called Mr IPL, Suresh is one of the highest run-getters in the league. However, the southpaw, who retired from international cricket in 2020, did not find a bidder at the recent auctions. After Suresh Raina went unsold in the auctions, Twitter recalls Mumbai Indians picking Yuvraj Singh when he was in a similar phase a few years ago.
Suresh Raina goes unsold in IPL 2022 Mega-Auctions
Raina’s form has been dismal in recent years. While he did not take part in IPL 2020, he found it hard to get runs in IPL 2021. In fact, in the final few games of IPL 2021, Raina did not find a place in the playing XI. Furthermore, the 2011 World Cup-winning cricketer has been largely inactive in domestic cricket. He had set his base price at INR 2 Cr, a sum which was high considering how the auctions happened. Hence, Raina was unsold at the event.
Twitter recalls Mumbai Indians picking Yuvraj Singh for IPL 2019
In 2018, Yuvraj Singh was also going through a similar phase in his career. He reduced his base price and entered the IPL 2019 Auctions. Mumbai Indians signed the player and also gave him a few games at the start of the season. The franchise won the trophy that year.
When Mumbai Indians could do that to a legend who never played for them, one section of CSK fans argued that their franchise could have done something similar for Raina. The player is the highest run-getter for the franchise and it will take a lot of time for anyone to beat that. He has won plenty of games for the franchise as well. Hence, there were a lot of reactions on Twitter appreciating the efforts of Mumbai Indians a few years ago. We take a look at a few of them below:

Not Every Team is MI !!
We bidded for Yuvraj Singh in 2019 when he was almost going unsold likewise Raina and played him in the 11 for few games , Rohit handed the trophy to him after winning ☺️@ImRo45 @mipaltan— Aditya45 (@RohitianAditya) February 13, 2022
Respect for Mumbai Indians increased for me as they have bought Yuvraj in 2019 to respect the legend

Malinga didn't picked in 2018 due to injury , mi made him bowling mentor and then eventually pick him in 2019
Yuvraj didn't picked up by anyone so mi picked him in base price and let him play 4-5 matches
This is way of treating your legends @mipaltan

Mumbai bought Yuvraj when he was in same situation like what Raina is today. Someone said this to me above.
Really Mumbai have my respect on this point. They know how to treat a legend and gratitude matters for them.— NIH🅰️🅰️L (@Nihal99forU) February 13, 2022
When Yuvi smashed those 3 sixes I was happy and sad at the same time. 😂😭
Will be forever thankful to Mumbai for giving such a great farewell to a Legend like Yuvraj Singh. ❤

Players come for the second round only when atleast one team asks the bidder to include them for they wish you buy them. Yuvraj was asked to be included by MI and hence they bought him. CSK never asked for Raina certainly, especially after the misunderstandings time back.
