After finishing on the losing side in another World Cup final, the New Zealand allrounder Jimmy Neesham has his eyes set on the next T20 World Cup, which will take place in less than a year’s time in Australia.
New Zealand cricket team was beaten by Australia in the final of T20 World Cup 2021 last night and although this loss was not as close a loss as the one in the ODI World Cup 2019 final was, this would still hurt the New Zealand players, particularly Neesham who has now seen two World Cup final defeats in a row.
After playing a match-winning cameo for New Zealand in the semifinal against England, Jimmy Neesham had tweeted that he didn’t celebrate because the job was still “not finished”. Unfortunately for the Kiwi allrounder, the job remained unfinished even after the final. However, he doesn’t seem to have given up.
Neesham, after the final match, got over last night and Australia became champions, posted a tweet saying “335 days”. Some people might not have got it, but he was talking about the number of days remaining for the next T20 World Cup to start.

New Zealand were certainly not one of those teams who were considered strong contenders to reach the final of the T20 World Cup because a lot of experts had question marks if they had got enough firepower with the bat in UAE conditions.
But as always, New Zealand punched above their weight again and Jimmy Neesham played an important part in it, not just as a power finisher at no. 6, but also by chipping in as a regular 5th bowler.
With the next T20 World Cup not far away, the nucleus of this New Zealand T20 team is expected to remain more or less the same and Neesham will again be the main finisher for the Blackcaps as they build-up to their next campaign.
