CVC capitals might sign Ravi Shastri as the new head coach of Ahmedabad IPL franchise
Ravi Shastri had a great amount of success as the head coach of India in the last 4 years
The current Indian coach Ravi Shastri might be named the head coach of the new Ahmedabad franchise which has been bought by CVC capitals, as reported by Cricbuzz.
Ravi Shastri will finish his tenure as the head coach of India after the ongoing T20 World Cup, and it will be the end of the tenure for India’s bowling coach Bharath Arun and fielding coach R Sridhar as well, both of whom had joined India’s coaching staff round about the same time Shastri was roped in.
The trio played a key role in shaping the modern-day Indian side, particularly in test match cricket, as India won the test series in Australia twice and was leading by 2-1 in the Test series in England as well before it was postponed.
The legacy of Shastri, Bharath Arun and Sridhar will mostly be remembered for India’s enormous success in test cricket, but India also beat England in 4 out of 5 white ball series under this coaching staff and that’s no mean feat as England is considered the best white-ball team of the modern era.
India’s new head coach Rahul Dravid is expected to bring in his own support staff
With Rahul Dravid being appointed as India’s new head coach and him being expected to bring in his own support staff, CVC capitals saw this as an opportunity to rope in India’s current staff to their new franchise and try and build a strong team from the scratch.
It is understood that Shastri is keen to have a crack with the IPL teams as well, but he is yet to take a final call as he is currently busy in his World Cup assignment with the Indian team. Once he is done with it and accepts CVC’s offer, an announcement might be made by the owners of the Ahmedabad franchise.
Shastri, if he joins the Ahmedabad franchise, is most likely to bring in Bharath Arun and Sridhar with himself as the bowling and the fielding coach respectively.
