SRH fans have written a letter to the franchise with a request to retain the franchise’s title-winning former captain David Warner for the next season.
SRH had sacked David Warner from captaincy midway through IPL 2021 and then had dropped him from the team as well. While Warner was extremely disappointed by that, SRH fans didn’t really have a platform to voice their opinion on it as the games were not happening in SRH’s home ground Rajeev Gandhi International Stadium.
However, now that the season has ended and there are all signs that the franchise and the team management are not planning to retain David Warner and are looking to move on, the fans have decided to write a letter to the franchise itself and have requested for Warner’s retention.
SRH fans say it was hard to see David Warner being dropped
According to fans, it’s understandable to them that some tough calls need to be made at times to find the balance within the playing XI, but for fans to see David Warner being dropped and treated like that was not easy.

This has been one of the seasons where the fans have been through a lot of disappointments anyway because of the results of the games, and the disappointment will increase many folds if Warner is not retained and the fans have to say goodbye to their greatest and most beloved player.
SRH, after qualifying to the playoffs for 6 consecutive seasons, couldn’t make it this time around and finished the league phase at the last spot in the points’ table with just 3 wins in 14 games. There were a lot of chopping and changing in the team right through the season, including the change in captaincy as well.
Going into the mega auction next year, it’s not certain which players SRH are planning to retain, but after this letter by the fans, there is a bit of pressure on them to take Warner’s retention into consideration.
