Vinod Kambli had an emotional reaction to video of Sachin Tendulkar reaching 1st ODI 100

Sachin Tendulkar is popularly called the God of Cricket because of his incredible achievements in the world of cricket. The right-handed batsman is the only cricketer in the world to have smashed 100 international centuries. He holds the record for the highest number of runs scored by a batsman. Also, Tendulkar is the only cricketer to have played in 200 Test matches.

Many fans would know that along with Sachin Tendulkar, there was one more talented batsman that joined the Indian cricket team, and he was Vinod Kambli. Tendulkar and Kambli created the record for the then highest partnership as they stitched up an unbelievable partnership of 664 runs at the school level. Soon, they played for the Indian cricket team.

Sachin Tendulkar ended up achieving more success than Vinod Kambli when all was said and done. However, in the initial phases of his career, Kambli achieved more success than Tendulkar. The fact that Kambli recorded two Test double hundreds in his first year as Test cricketer shows how talented he was. Meanwhile, Sachin took five years to complete his first century in One day international matches.

On September 9, 1994, Sachin Tendulkar notched up his maiden ODI hundred against the Australian cricket team. Tendulkar opened the innings for the Indian cricket team and scored 110 runs from 130 deliveries. He smashed eight fours and two sixes in his knock. The right-handed batsman took two runs to complete his maiden ODI century when he was on 98. Kambli was at the opposite end. Tendulkar’s century helped India defeat Australia by 31 runs.

Wisden posted the video clip of Vinod Kambli and Sachin Tendulkar running two runs as the latter completed his maiden ODI hundred. Seeing the video clip, Kambli recalled how hard they ran to complete the century of Tendulkar. Kambli also added that he was delighted to see his partner complete his maiden hundred in the 50-over format.

“Still remember how hard we ran that 2nd one! Was as happy as ever!” Vinod Kambli tweeted.
