5 players who can be next superstars in IPL
Every season of IPL throws up some of the exciting young talents who are ready to step up to the next level and this season was no different either.
It was a very intense season of IPL again and a lot of world-class players showcased their skills at the biggest stage, but some of the uncapped Indian youngsters stole the limelight as well.
Here are the 5 players who can be next superstar in IPL –
1 Abdul Samad
Abdul Samad didn’t get too many opportunities to bat this season, but in a few games where he batted, he clearly showed he had got all the ingredients which are required for a player to become a middle order power hitter.
India has got quite a few top order batsmen at the moment, but not too many specialist middle order batsmen and that’s why India often has to shift top order batsmen to middle order to do a job they are not used to.
With a player like Samad, India can position him in the lower middle order and he will be comfortable doing that job because that’s the role he is used to.
2 Ravi Bishnoi
India currently has Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav as their two first choice spinners in white ball cricket, but Kuldeep’s game seems to be going downhill and if he indeed loses his place in the Indian set-up, then Bishnoi might be the next leg spinner in line, given the kind of temperament he showed in IPL 2020.
Bishnoi is a modern day leg spinner who doesn’t loop the ball a lot and is very quick through the air, but he has got a really good wrong one and most importantly, he is a thinking bowler and can outfox the batsmen at the crucial stages of the game.
3 Devdutt Padikkal
Devdutt Padikkal seems to be lacking the power game, but he oozes class. Facing some of the world class fast bowlers in the powerplay with the new ball, some of the shots that he played left people awestruck.
Padikkal has got a lot of time both on the front and the back foot and pace doesn’t really hurry him. The only department where he needs to improve himself is when the ball gets old and timing is not really easy, that’s when he will have to learn to generate some power into his shots. With a little bit of improvement, Padikkal can turn into an all format superstar for India.
4 Varun Chakravarthy
India has had quite a few world class off and leg spinners in all formats of the game in the last decade or so, but they have never really had a proper mystery spinner who can use both his fingers and his wrist and the batsmen can’t really pick him out of his hand.
Varun Chakravarthy is one such bowler. He is a finger spinner, but then he can bowl the googly too and can also bowl the carrom ball. Chakravarthy has already made it to the Indian T20 team for the tour of Australia.
5 T Natarajan
Nobody bowled the yorkers with as much precision as Natarajan did in IPL 2020. There were times when he missed his yorkers as well and went for runs, but despite that, he kept backing himself and made match winning difference with his death bowling in a number of games.
It was his impressive show in IPL 2020 as a result of which Natarajan has managed to get into the Indian set-up as a net bowler for the tour of Australia.
