Team India locked horns with the Sri Lankan cricket team in the three-match T20I series recently. The Men in Blue led by Hardik Pandya drew first blood in the series by beating Sri Lanka by two runs.
After that, Sri Lanka made a stellar rebound in the second game by beating India by 16 runs to stay alive in the series. On the other hand, Hardik Pandya and Co clinched the T20I series decider by a margin of 91 runs.
Team India deservedly won the series by 2-1 and are now gearing up for the three-match ODI series. The first ODI is scheduled to be played on January 10 (Tuesday) in Guwahati.
BCCI decides not to rush Jasprit Bumrah for the ODI series against Sri Lanka
Earlier, it was speculated that Jasprit Bumrah will be back in action for the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. In fact, the BCCI named him in the ODI squad too.
Just as when we thought Bumrah would make a comeback, there was a slight change in plan. According to Cricbuzz, the BCCI is no mood to let Jasprit Bumrah feature in the ODI series against the Lankans.
The source added that the board doesn’t want to rush the pacer straight away in action. As far as Team India are concerned, they have other important things to focus rather than Sri Lanka ODIs.
India have an important assignment against Australia at home next month. Rohit Sharma and Co will play a four-match Test series and the first Test will be played on February 9 in Nagpur.
The board wants Jasprit Bumrah to be back in action for the Border Gavaskar Trophy series as India are looking to make a bid for the first title in the ICC World Test Championship.
During the first cycle, Team India made it all the way to the finals alongside New Zealand. Needless to say, they surrendered at the hands of the Kiwis in the final showdown.
