Marnus Labuschagne and Travis Head have hit hundreds in the current second Test match between Australia and West Indies, and the hosts are on track to post a large total. During one point in the game, Australia had 131/3 and their skipper, Steven Smith, was out to a duck after being caught and bowled by Jason Holder. While the visitors were in the driver’s seat when the third wicket fell, Marnus and Head put together a 200-run stand to put them in a bind.
Mark Waugh, an ex-cricketer for Australia, had some harsh words for the Windies’ bowling. He said the bowling in the last inning was so bad that “not even club cricket.” Before Tea, he delivered a scathing critique of the tourists’ decision to bowl with spinners Kraigg Brathwaite and Roston Chase.

Waugh said on RSN Breakfast Club, “Tactically, I couldn’t understand why they would bring on a part-time spinner in the first hour of the Test match. They did pretty well until about the middle of the day, when Australia was at 3-131, but then Marnus and Travis Head just took the game away from them. The last session was club cricket, which isn’t even club cricket. I’m being a bit rude to club players by saying that. They had their hands in their pockets and were wearing long-sleeve jumpers. They didn’t look like they wanted to be there.”
Michael Clarke, a former captain of the Australian cricket team, had the same displeasure with the West Indies’ lack of competition.
Australia took Game 1 of the two-match Test series by a score of 164 runs. Australia scored 330 runs in 89 overs on Day 1 of the second Test match, ahead of the Stumps.
