“47.95 average and 188.37 strike-rate in T20I’s this year, unreal numbers”, Twitter reacts as Suryakumar Yadav scored 111 runs off 51 balls in the second T20I against New Zealand

After reaching his century off only 49 balls in the 19th over of the innings, Suryakumar Yadav, who is the most key batter for India, is the man of the moment for team India. Following New Zealand captain Kane Williamson’s decision to bowl first after winning the toss in the second T20I of the three-match series at Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui, Rishabh Pant (6) was dismissed in the sixth over of the innings. While Umran Malik and Shubman Gill did not make the cut, Yuzvendra Chahal and Mohammed Siraj did.

To keep India’s score below 200, New Zealand must be overjoyed. Southee took a hat trick and gave up just five runs in his last over. But more crucially, SKY, the man of the hour, was off strike. To what extent that proves to be decisive, only time will tell.

Suryakumar Yadav returned not out on 111 runs off 51 balls. He hit 11 boundaries and 7 sixes during his stay at the crease. India needed the blitz from Surya Kumar Yadav after the powerplay they had.

It was his second hundred in a Twenty20 International, and he is presently unrivalled in this format. SKY batted like he was from another planet after Pant and Ishan Kishan faltered and Shreyas Iyer stumbled and stepped on his stumps despite looking solid.

The lofted extra-cover drive, the inside-out hit over extra-cover, the go inside the line and help it over fine-leg, the ramp, and the cuts over backward point: all strokes that he has made famous. From the very beginning, he exuded class and mad form, and he left no stone unturned.
