Fans on Twitter react as Indian skipper Rohit Sharma smashed a half-century against the Netherlands in the ongoing clash of the T20 World Cup 2022 in Sydney. They lauded him for his innings and hailed him for playing pull shots to perfection.
Rohit Sharma smashes 53 runs against Netherlands in 39 balls
Batting first at Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), India was in a spot of bother when they lost KL Rahul for just 9 runs in the third over. But after that, it was a ‘Hitman’ show as he smashed the Dutch bowlers all over the park.
Rohit first looked a bit shaky as even a lifeline when the opposition dropped his catch for 13 runs. But at that, he made most of his fortunes and smashed his 29th half-century in the shortest format of the game. The India skipper scored 53 runs in 39 balls and helped India recover from the early loss.
Rohit played with a strike rate of 135.9 and smashed 4 fours and 3 sixes in his innings. One of the main highlights of his innings was his pull shot. The Indian opener played that shot to perfection and smashed a couple of sixes on the pull.
With the kind of display he put on, it seemed that he would go on to get a big score but he holed out in the deep. He picked the slower ball from Fred Klaassen but he tried to smash the ball across the line and didn’t generate enough power to clear deep mid-wicket.

Good knock from Rohit Sharma. No pace in the pitch and most importantly I'm happy that he took his time. No need to play with intent when you're the only one in the team who's following that @ImRo45 🙏
