Asia Cup 2022: Why the tournament doesn’t have the semi-finals?
As the Asia Cup 2022 is underway, many would be wondering about which format does the tournament follow and why aren’t in its semi-finals?
While most of the tournaments across the globe follow the format of the semi-finals, the Asia cup has Super 4. The tournament is played between six teams, divided into two groups. The top two teams from both groups will qualify for the Super 4 stage.
In the Super 4 stage, all four teams will face each other once and a separate points table will be formed. Two teams with max points will then play the final.

With the tournament having only 6 teams, the Super 4 format is best to follow as it provides the opportunity for almost all the teams to play against each other and prove their prowess. So far the tournament has been successful with this format and it is expected that this format will continue to follow in the upcoming years as well.
Asia Cup 2022: Predicting Super 4s for the ongoing tournament

Sri Lanka is all set to take on Bangladesh on Thursday (1st September), one among them will claim the place in Super 4 today. However, considering the recent form and head-to-head record, it’s likely that the Dasun Shanaka-led side will emerge victorious.
