‘You can already see the confidence in him’-Parthiv Patel heaps praise on Arshdeep Singh for the excellent spell in the second T20I against West Indies

WI vs IND 2022: Arshdeep Singh’s heroics in the final overs earned praise from Parthiv Patel, who previously held the position of wicket-keeper. Patel praised Singh for pulling India back into the match. In the second Twenty20 international that took place yesterday in St. Kitts, India was defeated by five wickets, and the 22-year-old pacer finished with stats of 1-26 off of his four overs (August 1).

The left-arm seamer was brought back into the attack in the 17th over of the second innings after his initial spell of bowling resulted in 16 runs being scored against him. In the penultimate over bowled by Arshdeep, there were just four runs scored, and the equation indicated that there needed to be 27 runs scored off of the next three overs. The fast bowler from Punjab delivered yet another tight over, which resulted in the dismissal of Rovman Powell, to provide India with 10 runs to defend off the last over.

WI vs IND 2022: What did Parthiv Patel say about Arshdeep Singh?

On Cricbuzz, Parthiv Patel was quoted as saying the following about Arshdeep Singh, stating that he makes the job of the captain easier:

“He has been bowling those difficult overs for Punjab Kings, and that is the reason why you could see the confidence in him. There was a situation in which Rohit walked in and he did not communicate much to Arshdeep, which demonstrated that he was aware of what he was going to do before he did it. This demonstrates how much he has grown as an adult and how much he has improved as a bowler while playing for Punjab.”

Arshdeep Singh was promoted to the senior squad after having an outstanding season with the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The teenager solidified his reputation as a death bowler by scalping 10 wickets while maintaining an economy of 7.70 runs per over.

Arshdeep Singh has not yet had a disappointing performance while representing his country. The left-arm pacer, who made his international debut in the first Twenty20 International against England at Southampton, is building a strong case for his inclusion in the Twenty20 World Cup in 2022. The teenager has gotten off to a terrific start in his international career, having taken five wickets while keeping his economy rate under six.

Parthiv Patel lauded the versatility of Arshdeep as a death bowler and stated the following:

“Arshdeep utilized the angle extremely effectively; the ball was not reversing in the traditional sense, but he used it incredibly well, especially with Powell’s wicket when it seemed as if it swung in,”

In conclusion, Patel stated: “He was bowling the slower ones extremely well; he is in control, and he is aware of what he has to do.”

Later on today, the same location will play host to the third Twenty20 International of the series, which will pit India against the West Indies (August 2). It should be noted that the match will start one and a half hours later than originally scheduled.
