“I will not play in that tournament,” Sourav Ganguly denies reports of him playing in the second season of Legends League Cricket (LLC)

The first edition of Legends League Cricket had turned out to be a popular tournament among the fans

The BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has denied the reports that he would be taking part in the second season of Legends League Cricket (LLC), a tournament that is not recognized by the BCCI and the ICC.

Earlier, the organizers of the tournament had put out a press release and Ganguly’s statement was there in the press release as well, which triggered the reports that he would be taking part in the league. It would have been very strange for the BCCI president himself to take part in a tournament that is not recognized by the board.

But, Sourav Ganguly, earlier today, talked to Press Trust of India (PTI) and made it absolutely clear that the reports of him going to play in the second edition of LLC are totally false.

It’s interesting to note that the commissioner of LLC is the former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri, who doesn’t particularly enjoy a great relationship with Sourav Ganguly. And that’s why the reports of Ganguly playing in the LLC were even more surprising.

Eoin Morgan will be playing in the second season of Legends League Cricket

Sourav Ganguly might not be a part of LLC, but LLC has secured the services of two big superstars apart from the other former stars who had played in the tournament last season. The former Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh and the former England captain Eoin Morgan will be playing in the second season of the tournament.

The India legends team in the first season of LLC was captained by the former Indian batsman Mohammed Kaif. While Kaif is likely to play in the second season too, it remains to be seen if he retains the captaincy of India legends or not.

Only retired players, who have not been associated with the BCCI or any other international board in the capacity of a player anymore, are allowed to play in Legends League Cricket.
