The former England captain Eoin Morgan reckons while England will miss the extraordinary ability of Ben Stokes on the field in One Day International (ODI) cricket, what they will miss even more is his leadership ability off the field, and in the dressing room.
Ben Stokes was never really given the permanent captaincy of the England ODI side at any stage. However, Eoin Morgan revealed while speaking on Sky Sports that the allrounder was still a leader in the locker room because he used to give the players the confidence that the toughest of jobs were possible on the field.
Stokes himself pulled off some remarkable heists for England in ODI cricket including the one in that unforgettable World Cup final of 2019, but Morgan insisted that the demeanor of Stokes in the dressing room and the way he used to look forward to a challenge used to give other players a lot of confidence.

Eoin Morgan admitted that he is personally a bit sad that Stokes has decided to bid adieu to the ODI game at the age of only 31. Still, he also insisted that he has been in that kind of situation himself where you keep asking yourself as a player if you should continue playing if you are not contributing to the team at your 100%.
Ben Stokes mentioned in his retirement message that the reason behind his decision is the fact that he was not being able to give his 100% to the team and he feels that he is taking the place of someone who can come in and give his 100% to the captain and the team.
After the retirement of Stokes, there has been a lot of debate on the hectic schedule of the cricketers as well, with several pundits of the view if the schedules are not reconsidered, a lot of cricketers will retire earlier than usual in the future.
