5 Teams to lose most games against Mumbai Indians in a single IPL season

Mumbai Indians have been the most dominating team in the history of the IPL in terms of the no. of trophies that they have won. They have been very dominating this season as well and seem to be well on their way of winning their 5th IPL title.

After clearly being the best team in the group stage of IPL 2020, Mumbai won the qualifier 1 with ease and will take the field next Tuesday to play their 6th IPL final.

There have been a few teams of late who have had horror runs against Mumbai and they have lost more than 2 games against Mumbai in a single season of the IPL.

Here are the teams which have lost most games against Mumbai Indians in a single IPL season –

1. CSK (4 times in IPL 2019)

CSK comfortably made it to the IPL playoffs in 2019, but on their way to the playoffs, they were beaten by Mumbai twice in the group stage itself. However, because of the fact that they ended in top 2 in the points table, they were up against Mumbai in the first qualifier again.

However, Mumbai beat CSK once again and the men in yellow had to go back to qualifier 2 to give themselves any chance to make it to the final. CSK beat Delhi Capitals in qualifier 2 to reach the final, but only to lose the final against Mumbai again by a fine margin of 1 run.

2. Delhi Capitals (3 times so far in IPL 2020)

IPL 2020 is still in progress and Delhi Capitals have already been beaten thrice by Mumbai Indians, twice in the group stage and once in qualifier 1 and two out of these three defeats are embarrassing ones.

Delhi Capitals are, however, still alive in IPL 2020 and if they manage to win the qualifier 2 and reach the final, they will bump into Mumbai Indians again who have already made it to the final.

3. KKR (3 times in IPL 2017)

Both Mumbai Indians and KKR made it to the playoffs in IPL 2017, but since Mumbai had finished in top 2, they played qualifier 1, while KKR played the eliminator.

Mumbai lost qualifier 1 and KKR won the eliminator, so they met again in qualifier 2 and KKR was beaten by Mumbai for the third time in the season in qualifier 2.

Mumbai then went on to win the final as well by beating Rising Pune Supergiant by 1 run.

4. CSK (3 times in IPL 2013)

Mumbai beat CSK in both the group games in IPL 2013, but CSK avenged the losses by handing Mumbai a thumping in the first qualifier.

But, Mumbai returned to play CSK again in the final as they won the qualifier 2. The final then turned out to be completely one-sided in the favor of Mumbai as they won their first IPL title ever.

5. CSK (3 times in IPL 2015)

CSK and Mumbai had beaten each other once in the group stage of IPL 2015, but Mumbai took an upper hand by beating CSK in qualifier 1 as they became the first team to secure a spot in the final that season.

CSK, however, also managed to qualify to the final by winning qualifier 2 and ended up playing Mumbai again in the final. But, Mumbai proved to be a better side this time around as well as they beat CSK convincingly to win their second IPL title.
