3 Pakistan players who have played in IPL but not in PSL

IPL and PSL are among the top T20 leagues in the world right now. Some fans of Pakistan feel that the Pakistan Super League is superior to the Indian Premier League, but the viewership numbers and the salaries for cricketers are much higher in the IPL. Also, the brand value of all IPL teams is much higher than the PSL teams.

Neither the Indian players play in the PSL nor the Pakistan cricketers have Indian Premier League contracts, but there was a time when Pakistan players would feature in the league. In IPL 2008, 11 players from Pakistan earned contracts from the eight franchises.

Interestingly, three of them never played a match in the Pakistan Super League. Here’s a list of those three names:

1. Shoaib Akhtar played in IPL but not in PSL

Former Pakistan cricket team fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar is the first name to feature on this list. Akhtar was one of the main fast bowlers for the Kolkata Knight Riders team in the inaugural edition of the league. The Shah Rukh Khan-owned franchise signed him for INR 1.7 crore, and he did a decent job for the team.

2. Mohammad Asif played in IPL but not in PSL

Another former Pakistan cricket team fast bowler to appear on the list is Mohammad Asif. He was one of the top pacers in the world but his career derailed after his involvement in the match-fixing scandal.

Asif played for the Delhi Daredevils in IPL 2008. He was banned from cricket when the Pakistan Super League came into existence.

3. Younis Khan

Younis Khan was one of the three Pakistan cricketers who won the inaugural edition of the IPL in 2008 with the Rajasthan Royals. The other two Pakistan players in the RR squad were Purple Cap winner Sohail Tanvir and wicket-keeper Kamran Akmal. Khan never played in the Pakistan Super League.
