2 MS Dhoni’s IPL records which might not be broken in future

MS Dhoni is the best cricketing brain in the world without any second thoughts. He is also the second-most successful captain in the history of India’s premier T20 competition, the Indian Premier League.

Under his tutelage, CSK became one of the powerhouses in the T20 cricket fraternity. Chennai Super Kings have won as many as four honours and two champions league titles.

Moreover, CSK have a top record of qualifying for the playoffs most of the time compared to the other teams in the competition. As a captain and wicketkeeper-batsman, MS Dhoni has accomplished several records.

Now in this article, let’s take a glimpse at two of MS Dhoni’s IPL records which might not be broken in future.

1. Most matches as captain

MS Dhoni has been the most successful captain for Chennai Super Kings since the inception of the Indian Premier League. The fact that he has missed only one game for CSK in 2019 owing to fever goes to show his sheer dedication to the franchise.

Moreover, he has played 210 games as a skipper for CSK, which is the most by any player in the Indian Premier League. On the other hand, Rohit Sharma has played 143 games as captain whereas Virat Kohli played 140 games as captain.

2. Most sixes in the 20th over

MS Dhoni is often referred to as the calmest customer at the crease, especially in the death overs. Usually, some cricketers tend to get nervous in the last over of the run-chase and the pressure is always high. However, MS Dhoni has been a special player when it comes to dealing with the toughest of challenges with relative ease.

He holds the record of smashing most sixes in the 20th over. He has smashed as many as 52 sixes in the 20th over, which is the most by any player in the history of the Indian Premier League. On the other hand, Kieron Pollard and Ravindra Jadeja have hit 33 and 26 sixes in the 20th over.
