2 Australian players who scored a century in the last Border-Gavaskar Test series in India

The Border-Gavaskar Trophy will start in February this year. After two editions, the competition will be held in India. The last time that it was held was way back in 2017. A lot has changed since then both for Team India and Australia. Nevertheless, in the upcoming series, it needs to be seen which team would come out on top. This will have a direct bearing on the final of the World Test Championship. Here, we take a look at two Australian players who scored a century in the last Border-Gavaskar Test series in India.

1) Steve Smith – 3 Centuries

Steve Smith has troubled India on many occasions. While his game against pace was well-known, Smith was yet to exhibit his prowess against the turning ball. The series against India was a fine opportunity to do that.

The former Australian skipper made full use of the chance. In that series, he scored a total of 499 runs, which also included three centuries. His highest score was 178* in that series. The visitors will hope that Smith arrives with a similar form to the upcoming BGT in India.

2) Glenn Maxwell – 1 Century

Glenn Maxwell is one of the Australian players who scored a century in the last Border-Gavaskar Test series in India. The all-rounder has scored just 1 Test century, so far, and this was against Team India.

Despite being one of the important white-ball cricketers for Australia, Glenn Maxwell has not played a lot of Tests till now. In fact, he has played only seven games till now. However, for the Sri Lanka Tour last year, he got a call-up. If not for his freak injury, he surely would have been on the flight to India. While being a top player against spin, Maxwell is also a useful spinner himself. India has many players who struggle against right-arm off-spin and Maxwell could have been used against them.
