Pakistan had a very confusing run in the T20 World Cup 2022 so far. They were deemed as one of the favourites to win the title this year because of the brilliant form they have been in for the last few years but after their loss against India in the opening match, they seemingly lost their momentum. Their loss against Zimbabwe was indeed very shocking and they were lucky to have qualified for the Semi-finals as South Africa bottled their last Super 12 match against Netherlands.
However, they have now qualified for the semis and are now just two wins away from creating history. The Paks will face New Zealand in the first semi-final at the Sydney Cricket Ground on 9th November and they really have to improve their performance if they want to defeat them. The kiwis have been the best-performing side in the tournament till now and Pakistan will need to give their all to defeat them.
One of the biggest worries for Pakistan has been the performances of the top batters Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam. Mohammad Rizwan had consistently been the top batsman of all the tournaments that he played in the last few years but something is wrong with him in the T20 World Cup. Just like captain Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan is also going through a rough patch and this is why Pakistan’s entire batting lineup is suffering.
The Paks have one of the best bowling attacks in the world right now and their problem lies in their batting lineup. They are in dire need of a good knock from either Babar Azam or Rizwan to keep up their hopes of defeating New Zealand.
Even the Pakistani fans are trolling their own players now. A journalist names Farid Khan tweeted: “Predict Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan’s partnership runs and run rate of the partnership against New Zealand tomorrow!” to which the fans replied hilariously. “108-0 (in 20 overs),” a particular fan wrote.
Twitter Reacts:
