Royal Challengers Bangalore locked horns with Gujarat Titans in yesterday night’s encounter at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. It was indeed a must-win game for RCB to qualify for the playoffs.
Actually, Mumbai Indians beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by eight wickets to stay alive in the playoff race. For RCB, the equation was pretty simple and they had to win the game to stay alive in the race.
After five straight-away games, RCB returned to their fortress but failed to find out a way to defeat Gujarat Titans. The defending champions once again proved why they are the best team in this season’s IPL.
They went on to beat RCB by six wickets with five balls to spare. Batting first, RCB posted 197/5 in their quota of 20 overs. In response, GT aced the run-chase quite successfully with the help of Gill’s century and Shankar’s fifty.
Virat Kohli gifts Rashid Khan a signed jersey and hugged him
Former RCB captain Virat Kohli was extremely disappointed after being on the losing side. He gave it all in the contest by scoring an immaculate century where he struck 13 fours and a six but it was to no avail.
After the game, a beautiful moment was captured on camera where Virat Kohli was seen gifting Rashid Khan a signed jersey before going on to hug him. It was such a heartfelt moment between the two.
The video clip of the same spread like wildfire on social media portals. Rashid Khan and Mohammed Shami are the leading wicket-takers in the ongoing edition of the IPL. Both players have taken 24 wickets apiece this season.
Gujarat Titans will lock horns with Chennai Super Kings in Qualifier 1 at Chepauk Stadium in Chennai. It is going to be a spectacular contest between the heavyweights.
