Lucknow Supergiants skipper KL Rahul has plunged into the sphere of concerns as his side lost their second game in a row and is looking completely derailed at the moment. Rajasthan Royals handed over Supergiants their fifth defeat of the season by 24-runs in the match of last night. And in the post-match conversations, KL Rahul got furious at the worst consecutive display of the game by their batting line-up. The likes of Marcus Stoinis and Jason Holder are consistently facing failures in the run-making process after the early fall of top-order batters. On the other hand, KL Rahul 10(19) & Quinton De Kock 7(8) were continuously getting hunted against the early swing with the new ball.
In the last game against the Titans, it was the pair of Mohammad Shami – Yash Dayal and now it was Trent Boult and Prasidh Krishna. Thus when asked about the sources of failure in the last two encounters, the LSG skipper has put the whole vammy on the batsmen and manifested them as the major contributors in the defeats against Titans and Royals. While addressing the question KL Rahul said, “I thought it was a gettable target. Good pitch, obviously something there with the new ball. We bowled well to restrict them to that total. We backed ourselves but we couldn’t execute. Once again the batting group hasn’t been able to perform collectively”.
“We need to go back and work on it. When you lose wickets early it puts pressure on you”.
We have lost three-four games in the powerplay as a batting unit. Make sure you find a way to stay in there when you play quality bowlers and give a good start”, he concluded.
