“Virat Kohli’s loss of form is a combination of a lot of factors,” Salman Butt believes Kohli needs a break

Virat Kohli has had a rocky relationship with BCCI in the last 6 months or so

The former Pakistan opener Salman Butt is of the view that Virat Kohli’s loss of form in the recent months is a combination of a lot of factors and he needs to take a break not just for his own good, but for India’s good as well because India needs him in big world events.

According to Salman Butt, who was speaking on the YouTube channel of the Pakistani journalist Waheed Khan, Virat might not have been at his fluent best even last year, but people can clearly notice now that his form has significantly dipped since he has left the captaincy of the Indian team.

And, the way he left the captaincy was not an ideal way for any captain to leave because it was not a normal resignation. First he left T20I captaincy, then he was sacked from ODI captaincy amid massive miscommunication with the big-wigs of BCCI and then his resignation from test captaincy came, catching everyone by surprise.

Off field matters have taken an emotional toll on Kohli: Salman Butt

Salman Butt reckons that so many things have happened with regard to Kohli in terms of off field matters that it has taken an emotional toll on him and the emotional toll is impacting his on-field performances, which is why a break is dearly needed for him at this point of time.

Virat Kohli has not scored a single half century in the 9 games that he has played for RCB in IPL 2022 so far, despite batting in top 3 in all the games and as the tournament has progressed, his form has worsened to the extent that he has scored two first ball ducks in the last three games.

RCB promoted Kohli to open the batting in the last game against Rajasthan Royals to see if that would help Kohli get his old mojo back, but the former Indian captain looked out of nick while opening the batting as well. Kohli will have another go against Gujarat Titans in an afternoon game today.
