“Virat Kohli is now getting out to many type of bowlers,” observes former West Indies fast bowler Ian Bishop
Virat Kohli was clean bowled by the off spinner Moeen Ali in an IPL game against CSK yesterday
The former West Indies fast bowler Ian Bishop has observed that Virat Kohli is now getting out to any types of bowlers and it’s not just one type of bowling that is specifically troubling the former India and RCB skipper.
Virat Kohli has scored two golden ducks in the ongoing IPL and on both occasions, he was nicked off by a moving delivery behind the stumps. Then Prasidh Krishna bounced him out in the game against Rajasthan Royals at the score of 9 on a pitch that was tricky to bat on.
Yesterday, in the game against CSK, Kohli was bowled through the gate by a big-off spinner from Moeen Ali on a pitch that was turning a bit. These are all different kinds of dismissals against different kinds of bowlers and it’s not that it’s happening with Kohli only during the IPL.
“Virat Kohli was also dismissed by Roston Chase in an almost similar manner,” recalls Ian Bishop
Ian Bishop, while speaking on the post-match show of ESPNCricinfo after the game between RCB and CSK, noted that Kohli was dismissed by Roston Chase while playing for India in the T20I series against West Indies in almost the same manner as he was dismissed by Moeen.
And, the pitch on which that game between India and West Indies was played, was not even offering that much of turn, but Kohli played all around an off-spinning delivery from Chase and was cleaned up. In the case of Moeen again, he was trying to play a big off-spinner off the front foot without getting to the pitch of the ball.
Ian Bishop stressed the point that he is a big fan of Kohli and whenever Kohli is playing anywhere around the world, he makes sure he tunes in because he wants to watch him bat, but he has to say what he is currently observing and it’s only an observation, not a criticism.
