As the reports have started to come out of Gujarat, things went out of control real fast from being an electric fielder to being ruled out of IPL for Kane Williamson.
The former Kiwi skipper was in electric touch in the season opener at Gujarat as he kept things under check with panache and a positive attitude. However, it was during the game when he wanted to stall Ruturaj’s long six and eventually was successful but at the end of the day, ended up hurting his knee.
It now becomes a challenge to find a replacement for an able batter in the side who can get the required firepower delivered in the perfect proportion as Kane would have done, mixing aggression and calm in the same breath.
Here are two possible options that can take over the reins for Gujarat Titans in the second game in place of Kane Williamson.
#1 David Miller can be a well-judged replacement of Kane Williamson
This is an obvious choice for the Gujarat Titans considering the fact that he will be joining the ranks ahead of the second fixture for the defending champions.
With Miller in form, half of Gujarat’s worries can go away and the precursor edition of the tournament can very well tell you a thousand stories that were not said ahead of the ongoing season considering his absence from the initial part of the tournament.
#2 Matthew Wade is going to be a desperate attempt to replace Kane
The Australia wicket-keeper’s latest form may be of question but once again, the southpaw is a seasoned campaigner and it is just a couple of good knocks that can entirely change the equation for Wade.
In the absence of Kane Williamson, Wade’s inclusion to the side would mean that he would get to have a free swing of his arms and get those all-important runs in the powerplay if asked to open. More importantly, he is an extremely flexible player and can get the required wheels rolling only if given the proper slot to bat.
