India’s Suryakumar Yadav has had a phenomenal run so far in the T20 World Cup 2022. He has been India’s best performer in the tournament so far alongside Virat Kohli and is in wonderful form right now. His performance against Zimbabwe today was perhaps the best knock from him we have seen in a long while and it will definitely be remembered as one of the knocks that defined his career.
Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bat first at Melbourne Cricket Ground today against Zimbabwe. It turned out to be the right decision as they were able to put up a huge total of 186/5 in 20 overs. However, it would not have been possible if it wasn’t for Suryakumar Yadav.
After KL Rahul gave India a great start with his half-century, no other middle-order batsman was able to keep up the momentum and it was then that Sky came in and picked up the reigns. He fully dominated the Zimbabwe bowling lineup and scored 61 runs in just 25 balls at a strike rate of 244 which is unbelievable. Even head coach Rahul Dravid complimented Sky for his innings after the match as he said that performing so consistently with such a high strike rate is commendable.
Suryakumar Yadav responds to being compared to AB de Villiers
Suryakumar Yadav is often called the ‘Indian Mr. 360 degree’ for his unorthodox shots all over the field and he proved today that he is worthy of the title by the plethora of amazing shots that he played.
After the match, however, Sky said: “There’s only one 360° player in the world and I will try to play like AB de Villiers” about the comparisons between him and ABD.
De Villiers replied to the comment by saying: “You’re very quickly getting there dude, and even more! Well played today”.
