Twitter user wrote a beautiful tribute message after Rohit Sharma scored 1st overseas Test century

Rohit Sharma has delighted the Indian cricket fans with his fantastic batting performance in the second innings of the ongoing fourth Test match between the Indian cricket team and the England cricket team at Kennington Oval in London. The Indian cricket team conceded a lead of 99 runs to the England cricket team in the first innings of the match.

The visitors needed a special batting performance in the second innings, and Rohit Sharma just did that. The right-handed batsman opened the innings with KL Rahul and added 83 runs for the first wicket. After Rahul’s departure, Rohit joined hands with number three batsman Cheteshwar Pujara and continued to dominate the English bowlers.

The Hitman completed his first Test hundred outside India in style

Nicknamed as The Hitman, Rohit reached his first-ever Test century in matches outside India with a maximum. It was the first six of his innings, and that six helped him complete a major milestone. Sharma has now become the first-ever opening batsman from the visiting nations to have scored a century in Test, ODI and T20I formats on English pitches.

No one can forget how Rohit decimated the opposition bowling lineups during the 2019 Cricket World Cup. However, not many fans were confident that the Hitman could produce similar performances in the longest format of the game in English conditions. Rohit has proved them all wrong in this tour so far. Before the England series, he also batted well in the ICC World Test Championship Final against the New Zealand cricket team.

Hundred of Rohit Sharma is a fitting tribute to late Vasu Paranjape

Unfortunately, one of the best coaches in Indian cricket, Vasu Paranjape left us all. The Indian cricket team wore black armbands to honour his demise during the Kennington Oval Test match against the England cricket team. A Twitter user pointed out how Vasu had spotted Rohit during his early days as a cricketer and wanted him in the team.

“Rohit’s hundred is a fitting tribute to late Vasu Paranjape who had seen him as a young cricketer in the Mumbai U-17 camp. Vasoo sir saw Rohit and wanted him in the team. Read the story in the book: Cricket Drona: For the Love of Vasu Paranjape,” the viral tweet read.
