BCCI has announced the India squad for the T20 World Cup. The event will take place in the UAE and Oman from October 17th. One of the major surprises in Team India is the return of R Ashwin. India’s squad announced for the T20 WC
The Indian Team for the T20 World Cup carried many surprises. While Shikhar Dhawan and Yuzvendra Chahal are two of the notable omissions, the likes of R Ashwin and Axar Patel have surprised many with their inclusion in the team. The squad also includes only three pacers, with both Shardul Thakur and Deepak Chahar a part of the reserves. Shreyas Iyer will also be one of the standby players. Rahul Chahar and Varun CV will come in as the specialist spinners while Ishan Kishan will be the backup wicket-keeper.
The other big news is that former India captain MS Dhoni will mentor the squad at the event. This will be a big boost for the squad as Dhoni had led India to a win in the 2007 T20 World Cup.

Ravichandran Ashwin makes it to the Indian T20I Team for the T20 WC
R Ashwin last played a T20I in 2017 against West Indies at Sabina Park. He did not pick a wicket in that encounter. Since then, he has been on the sidelines while Yuzvendra Chahal took up the role of India’s lead spinner.
However, the injury worries about Washington Sundar and the mediocre recent form of R Ashwin has prompted the selectors to bring back Ashwin to the squad.
