England pulls off an incredible win at Trent Bridge

New Zealand, after the loss at the Lord’s, came back strong in the second Test by scoring 553 runs in the first innings. With such a big score, many expected that the game will either as a win for the Kiwis or would end in a draw. When England replied back by making 539 runs, the result on the horizon was a draw.

However, Brendon McCullum and Ben Stokes had different ideas. They first got New Zealand all-out for 284 runs and then gave themselves a target of 299. In the current era of T20 cricket, a target of 299 with ten wickets in hand is not impossible. However, with the kind of fragility that the England batting line-up has shown recently, it was going to be a tough chase. Although they were right in the game, frequent wickets were pulling them back. A stunning century by Jonny Bairstow, though, made it possible for the Englishman. Ben Stokes also chipped in with a 75 as England won the game by five wickets.
