England defeated New Zealand by five wickets to win the second Test of the ongoing series. Chasing a target of 299, the hosts needed 160 runs in the final session. Not many gave them a chance but they did achieve something remarkable. In this article, we take a look at how Twitter reacted after England pulls off an incredible win at Trent Bridge.
England pulls off an incredible win at Trent Bridge
New Zealand, after the loss at the Lord’s, came back strong in the second Test by scoring 553 runs in the first innings. With such a big score, many expected that the game will either as a win for the Kiwis or would end in a draw. When England replied back by making 539 runs, the result on the horizon was a draw.
However, Brendon McCullum and Ben Stokes had different ideas. They first got New Zealand all-out for 284 runs and then gave themselves a target of 299. In the current era of T20 cricket, a target of 299 with ten wickets in hand is not impossible. However, with the kind of fragility that the England batting line-up has shown recently, it was going to be a tough chase. Although they were right in the game, frequent wickets were pulling them back. A stunning century by Jonny Bairstow, though, made it possible for the Englishman. Ben Stokes also chipped in with a 75 as England won the game by five wickets.
Twitter reacts to the first series win in the McCullum era

Twitter was happy for the team, especially for Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum. Here are a few reactions in this regard after the England win:

If this is how England are going to play Test cricket, then this could well be the start of a new era for Test cricket, not just their cricket #ENGvNZ
