Former Australian All-Rounder Shane Watson has complimented the incredible batting voyage of Virat Kohli in the edition of IPL 2016. In the 16 matches which Kohli played in the tournament for RCB, he compiled the historic run tally of 973-runs with an above par average of 81.08. It has included four fantastic centuries, which is also a tape in itself as nobody could break its streak of it. In that edition, Royal Challengers Bangalore had reached the finals but were unfortunately defeated by the vicious vammy of Sunrisers Hyderabad.
This loss was heartbreak for a couple of megastars like Ab De Villiers, Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli, and Australian All-rounder Shane Watson. Watson’s expensive spell of 0/61(4-overs) was the lone reason behind SRH’s peak total of 208/7, where RCB just fell behind by 8-runs in the chase.
“And bowling that one over just shattered me. It just got it wrong and I felt like the end of time”.
Watson said in the Podcast of Delhi Capitals Youtube channel, “It was Virat Kohli’s best season as a player and as a captain as he scored more than 960 runs in a single IPL season. This is a record that still hasn’t been broken or no one has even come close to this record. Virat in particular was on fire. It was his chance, one of the greatest players, to win that elusive IPL title as captain. And bowling that one over just shattered me. It just got it wrong and I felt like the end of time,” added the former Australian all-rounder.
Later he added, “The 2016 final which I played with RCB was something I was just shattered about. Because I know how much it meant to RCB to win that final. It was at home at Chinnaswamy. RCB had played so well all year, at the backend of that tournament in particular”.
