‘They will surely notice his absence there’-Sanjay Bangar names the area where the Indian team will miss Jasprit Bumrah in the Asia Cup 2022

Sanjay Bangar believes that Team India will miss Jasprit Bumrah’s contributions in the Asia Cup 2022 more during the middle overs than during the final overs.

From the 27th of August through the 11th of September, the United Arab Emirates will host the continental Twenty20 event. Due to a back issue, Bumrah was not selected to be a part of the Indian team that would compete in the competition.

What did Sanjay Bangar say?

Bangar was questioned about his thoughts on India’s bowling attack during a chat on the Star Sports program ‘Follow the Blues’. In response, he said:

“Arshdeep is a wonderful choice to bowl in the death overs because he can deliver accurate yorkers, he has a lot of control, and he has a terrific temperament. Therefore, the Indian team will not miss Bumrah all that much in the overs leading up to the end of the game, but they will surely notice his absence in the middle overs.”

In the absence of his reliable seam bowling partner, Bangar wants Bhuvneshwar Kumar to take on more duties, both with the new ball and when it comes to the end of the game. The previous batting coach for the Indian national team stated as follows:

“Bhuvneshwar Kumar will be required to assume a bigger level of responsibility, which requires him to bowl two overs at the beginning of the innings and then bowl two overs again in the last four overs, which plays to his strengths. It seems to me that the one over in which the team deploys Bumrah in the middle overs will be the one in which his absence will be felt the most.”

Avesh Khan is the only other specialist seamer that India’s team has in addition to Bhuvneshwar and Arshdeep Singh. It would be intriguing to watch if they play all three pacers in the starting XI or whether they choose to use Hardik Pandya as their third seam bowler option.
