Robin Uthappa is certain that India has assembled a competitive team for the Twenty20 World Cup that will be held in Australia in 2022. On Monday, September 12, the selection committee named a 15-man team that would be captained by Rohit Sharma. In addition, the committee stated that four other players would go as reserves.
Ravichandran Ashwin and Mohammad Shami were two of the unexpected additions to the team that made it into the 19-man contingent that will compete in the competition. The Men in Blue have a couple more chances in the shape of a brief home season to hone in on their final playing XI before the season is over.

Ahead of the Twenty20 World Cup, they will play matches against Australia and South Africa.
What did Robin Uthappa say?
Uthappa, speaking to ESPN Cricinfo, said that the only questionable slot in terms of squad selection is the No. 5 position, and he added the following:
“The top four looks incredibly threatening, the lower-middle order seems good as well, but they just need to find clarity over that No. 5 place. [Yuzvendra] Chahal, Axar [Patel], and Ashwin are all clever, cunning, and wicket-taking bowlers. Their objective will be to constantly search for wickets.”
He added: “Rishabh Pant and Deepak Hooda are the two most likely candidates for it.”

Due to Ravindra Jadeja’s injury, Rishabh Pant is now the only left-handed batter in the team who has significant experience playing for India in international competition. The wicket-keeper batter, who was born in Delhi hasn’t been able to achieve his full potential in Twenty20 International cricket. Earlier this year, he was briefly used as an opener.
In addition to the position for the No. 5 batsman, the place for the third seamer is also up for grabs. Arshdeep Singh and the newly returned Harshal Patel are also candidates for the slot. Uthappa acknowledged the significance of having a left-arm seamer on the squad and stated the following:
“I believe that it is essential to have a left-arm fast bowler, and they have that in Arshdeep Singh; he will be extremely successful in the death overs. Bhuvi has shown what he is capable of doing, and I believe that he will also be effective in Australia.”
