“There we go again”, Twitter reacts as Sanju Samson was not included in India’s playing XI for the second T20I against New Zealand

Fans of Sanju Samson took to Twitter after Team India’s playing 11 for the second T20I against New Zealand was announced, to express their disappointment. Samson was not included in the starting eleven for the second T20I. Fans of Samson believe that the Rajasthan Royals captain is always the one to go when the team needs to make changes. Samson has stated before that he is pleased to be a part of the team and that he strives to improve whenever he gets his chance.

The thing is that India has not one but three wicketkeepers in Ishan Kishan, Rishabh Pant, and Sanju Samson. Pant is the vice-captain, and he has previously opened for Team India. Because India wanted to demonstrate continuity with Pant and Kishan, Samson was benched and they were called up. However, many of Sanju Samson’s supporters have voiced their disapproval of the decision on social media, claiming that the Kerala batter consistently faces unfair treatment.

After New Zealand won the toss and elected to bowl first, India got off to a flying start. Ishan Kishan was batting on 28 off 22 balls, with 4 fours and 1 six, while Pant had been out for just 6. India scored fifty runs by the seventh over of their innings, but more rain put a damper on things. The officials delayed calling for ground staff to cover the pitch and the close areas for a while, but eventually gave in when the rain became a downpour.

Sanju may not have been included in India’s starting XI for the second Twenty20, but if India is victorious today, he may get a chance to play in the third Twenty20 International.
