The fans are looking forward to the sixteenth edition of the Indian Premier League. Not long ago, the IPL franchises have submitted a list of released players, retained players and traded players ahead of IPL 2023 mini-auction.
For the unversed, the IPL 2023 mini-auction will go all guns blazing on December 23 in Kochi. Just a few days ago, the richest cricket body came up with plans of implementing the impact player rule in the upcoming season of the IPL.
Impact player concept is likely to be only for Indian players in IPL
Bringing the impact player rule concept into the IPL could do the trick as far as the entertainment quotient is concerned. For the record, an impact player can replace any player in the playing XI.
Yes, you read it right! However, a replacement is possible only before the end of the 14th over of either inning. So, a batsman or a bowler can straightaway get into the line-up by replacing someone.
According to the new impact player rule, the teams will have to come up with the names of all four substitutes apart from the starting XI at the toss. Notably, the impact player rule is applicable only to Indian players in IPL.
In case you didn’t know, only one of the four impact players can be utilized during the match. If suppose the match is trimmed to ten overs owing to rainfall, then the impact player rule will not work.
