Suresh Raina, a former cricket player, thinks that Team India’s top batter Virat Kohli has a good chance of winning the Player of the Tournament award in the Twenty20 World Cup 2022, which is now being played in Australia.
On Saturday, Raina gave an interview to the news outlet Aaj Tak, during which he remarked that he wouldn’t be shocked if Virat Kohli took home the coveted prize at this year’s showcase event.
The 33-year-old player has garnered great appreciation for his outstanding performance in the Twenty20 World Cup due to the performances he has shown with the bat which has amused many spectators.
Virat Kohli kicked off the tournament with a magnificent effort against Pakistan, leading India to a thrilling four-wicket triumph against their arch-rivals in a last-ball drama.
This victory gave India a 1-0 lead in the competition. The veteran competitor scored 82 runs without being dismissed while playing against the tough bowling assault of the Men in Green.
He followed it up with another impressive effort, this time hammering a brilliant undefeated half-century against the Netherlands in India’s subsequent match. Kohli was the player on his team that scored the most runs in the match. He did it by scoring 62 runs off of 44 deliveries.
It is important to point out that the player who once captained India in the past has not yet been dismissed from the T20 World Cup 2022. He has made two appearances and has scored 144 runs, giving him an impressive strike rate of 148.45.
The Indian cricket team will face off against the South African cricket team. The much-anticipated encounter will take place at the Perth Stadium on Sunday, October 30.
As a result of winning their first two matches in Group 2, Rohit Sharma and his teammates are presently in first place in the standings. Along with a net run rate of 1.425, they now have a total of four points in their tally.
On the other side, South Africa is now in the second position after collecting three points out of a possible four. Given the star-studded rosters of both cricket teams, a high-octane matchup is likely to ensue when the two teams compete against one another.

If he don’t get that award, it would be fine too. Matter is we win the tournament. Majority of the time, player of the tournament fails to win the trophy because overall it’s a team game. It’s an unlucky fact. Every WC, losing player win it. Only Warner did last year.
