The PBKS skipper Mayank Agrawal gets angry at the down performance of the comprehensive team and ultimately points to themself as the lone cause behind the tournament failure. In a defeat against DC where the heroic innings of 63(48) by Mitchell Marsh has pushed the team to respectable figures of 159/7 after 20-overs. And the rest of the work has been done by the top-notch bowling of Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel. The heavy cost lost to Punjab Kings has a big hand on top-order batting failure.
The experiment of skipper Mayank Agrawal to try himself in the middle order has miserably blasted out, as he received the golden duck from the Axar Patel. Also, the reliability of Shikhar Dhawan 19(16), Jonny Bairstow 28(15) and Bhanuka Rajapaksa 4(5) couldn’t provide the initial platform which could set up the base for the chase.
“It was definitely chaseable for the batting we have, and the wicket wasn’t as bad as it seemed”.
In the voyage of IPL 2022, PBKS now has 6-victories in their column while standing at the 7th position, but the results of the other games will decide their fate for the play-offs. The skipper Mayank Agrawal is himself having the worst edition with the blade, in the 12 encounters he has scored 195-runs with a no more average of 16.25. Thus he pointed out the cause of failure towards the whole team, especially the batsmen. When asked about this context in the post-match conversation he said, “Between 5-10 we lost too many wickets and that’s where we lost the game. It was definitely chaseable for the batting we have, and the wicket wasn’t as bad as it seemed”.
Later he mentioned about the best possibility remaining, “There’s still a match to be played. Want to go out there and play the best cricket. Still haven’t played our best cricket and look forward to doing that in the last game”.
