Indian skipper Rohit Sharma suffered a minor injury to his thumb while taking a catch at slip during the second ODI against the Bangladesh national cricket team at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka.

The Indian stalwart left the field and sought quick medical assistance before going to the hospital in Mirpur to get his thumb treated. He took a few injections before having some stitches to his dislocated thumb.

Despite being injured, he still came out to bat at No.9 for India and nearly pulled off a win for the visitors. He scored a blistering fifty off 27 balls where he struck 3 fours and 5 sixes.

Rohit Sharma won the hearts of the fans of the cricket fraternity for showing exemplary fighting spirit. He has been ruled out of the third and final ODI against Bangladesh owing to an injury.

Abhimanyu Easwaran is likely to be called up as the cover-up for Rohit Sharma in the Test series

As per the reports, Rohit Sharma is likely to be ruled out for the two-match Test series against the Bangladesh national cricket team. The visitors will play two Tests against the Tigers post the ODI series.

Meanwhile, according to PTI, Abhimanyu Easwaran is likely to be called up as the cover-up for Indian captain Rohit Sharma in the Test series against Bangladesh.

There are high chances that Shubman Gill and KL Rahul will open the innings for India in the Test series. For the unversed, Abhimanyu Easwaran plies his trade as an opening batsman for the Bengal cricket team.

The 27-year-old has played 77 games in first-class cricket, scoring 5420 runs at an average of 44.4. He has a proven track of smashing 17 centuries and 23 half-centuries, registering his career-best score of 233.

On the other hand, he has played 78 games in List-A cricket wherein he scored 3376 runs including 7 centuries and 21 fifties at an average of 46.2. The first and second Test will be played on December 14 and 22 at Chattogram and Dhaka respectively.
