Ravi Ashwin Posted An Emotional Message For Wearing The Blue Jersey After A Long Time
Ravichandran Ashwin has returned to India’s limited-overs setup. The off-spinner was one of the surprise selections in the unit that was selected a few weeks ago. In this article, we take a look as Ashwin posted an emotional message for wearing the blue jersey after a long time.
R Ashwin returns to India’s limited-overs squad
Ashwin last played for India in the limited-overs format back in July 2017. It was a T20I fixture against West Indies at Kingston. Since then, the Tamil Nadu man is playing mainly in the five-day format. Even though he did well in a few IPL seasons, Ashwin did not get a look in.
One of the major reasons for this was that Team India had a settled spin combination featuring the likes of Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar. However, with Sundar coming back from an injury and Kuldeep not in good form, Ashwin got the opportunity to be a part of the upcoming T20 World Cup.

After IPL 2021, the Indian Team members have regrouped. They will now take part in a few warm-up games before the much-awaited clash against Pakistan next Sunday. Meanwhile, Ashwin posed in the newly released Indian jersey and captioned the picture with an emotional message.
Ashwin’s caption read, “When your daughter says ‘I have never seen you in this jersey, appa’ can’t leave her out of the picture. Can you ?@prithinarayanan.” It was an emotional message since despite having plenty of experience, the management just did not consider Ashwin in the ODI and the T20I squads for more than four years.
Meanwhile, the 2021 edition of the T20 World Cup is underway, with the preceding games to the Super 12 stages having started. The first Super 12 game will be between Australia and South Africa, starting on 23rd October.
