Andrew Tye pulls out of IPL 2021; leaves for Australia

Rajasthan Royals pace bowler Andrew Tye has become the latest player to withdraw from IPL 2021. The Royals are in deep, deep trouble now because they have only four overseas players left in the squad. Mustafizur Rahman, David Miller, Chris Morris and Jos Buttler are the four names.

In case any overseas player picks up an injury or needs rest, the Rajasthan Royals do not have a backup now. The team had lost Jofra Archer and Ben Stokes due to injuries, while Liam Livingstone decided to pull out due to bio-bubble fatigue.

The Rajasthan Royals beat the Kolkata Knight Riders in their last match. After the game, Kumar Sangakkara addressed the entire team, where he informed that Andrew Tye was leaving at 4 AM. So, he asked the RR squad members to wish him goodbye. Here is the clip.

The Rajasthan Royals had kept Andrew Tye on he bench for the first five matches in Mumbai. It seems the Aussie pace bowler wished to return home before the Delhi leg of IPL 2021 began.

Why the departure of Andrew Tye could hurt Rajasthan Royals a lot?

Andrew Tye had not played a single game in IPL 2021, but he was a solid back-up option. The right-arm fast bowler could have come into the playing XI during the latter phases of the competition. Tye has been one of the most successful overseas players in IPL history.

He has an IPL hat-trick and a Purple Cap to his name. Right now, the Royals have only four foreign players left in their squad, but according to reports, South African batsman Rassie van der Dussen will join the squad if he clears the fitness test. The Royals can sign multiple replacements, but they have not made any official announcements yet.

The Royals ended their Mumbai leg with two wins and three losses. They will play their next game on April 29 against the Mumbai Indians in Delhi.
