List of Players who have scored a century on their 100th Test

These players have made their landmark Tests memorable

Indian batter Virat Kohli is set to play his 100th Test against Sri Lanka from March 4 at the PCA Stadium in Mohali and he will be looking to score a century. He hasn’t got a Test ton since India’s Day-Night affair against Bangladesh in November 2019 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. There have been batters, who have scored tons on their 100th Test.  

List of Players players with a century on 100th Test:

1. Joe Root

England Test skipper Joe Root scored a century on his 100th Test match back in February 2021 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. He scored 218 runs off 377 balls with 19 fours and two sixes as England won the match by 227 runs.

2. Inzamam-ul-Haq

Former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq also notched a century in his 100th Test match. In March 2005, he scored 184 runs off 264 balls with 25 fours at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. Pakistan won the match by 168 runs.

3. Gordon Greenidge

West Indies legend Gordon Greenidge also scored a century on his 100th Test. Back in 1990, he accomplished the feat against England when he scored an unbeaten 207-ball 149 at the Antigua Recreation Ground, St John’s, Antigua.

4. Javed Miandad

Former Pakistan batter Javed Miandad scored a century in his 100th Test at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. Batting at No.4, he scored 145 runs off 289 balls with the help of 10 fours. The match between India and Pakistan ended in a draw.

5. Ricky Ponting

Former Australia skipper Ricky Ponting celebrated his 100th Test with twin centuries against South Africa at the Sydney Cricket Ground in 2006. In the first innings, he scored 120 off 174 before being cleaned up by Jacques Kallis. In the second innings, Ponting was at his sheer best, scoring 143 runs off 159 balls.

6. Colin Cowdrey

Former England captain Colin Cowdrey scored a century in his 100th Test against Australia in Birmingham. The game was drawn and the batter made 104 off 247 balls with 15 fours.

7. Alec Stewart

England’s Alec Stewart also scored a ton in his 100th Test back in 2000 against the West Indies in Manchester. He scored 105 runs off 153 balls with 13 fours. The match at the Old Trafford was drawn.

8. Graeme Smith

Former South Africa skipper Graeme Smith scored a century in his 100th Test against England at the Kennington Oval in London. Smith made 131 runs with 20 fours as the Proteas won by and innings and 12 runs.

9. Hashim Amla

Former South Africa batter Hashim Amla also scored a ton in his 100th Test. He scored 134 off 265 balls at the Wanderers in Johannesburg as the Proteas won by an innings and 118 runs against Sri Lanka.
