“Paid Rs. 230 for Amazon subscription to watch just one match,” Indian fans react on twitter as they come to know it’s raining in Napier before the third India Vs New Zealand T20I

The first match of the India Vs New Zealand T20I series has already been washed out, while the second one was won by India

India Vs New Zealand T20I series is one of those rare bilateral series that is not available on Indian television because the rights to telecast the matches in New Zealand are held by Amazon Prime which is an OTT company and they didn’t finalize a deal with an Indian television network before the start of the series.

Whatever might be the reason for Amazon prime not selling the rights to any Indian television network, the fact that it is not available on Indian TV means whichever Indian fan wishes to watch the ongoing India Vs New Zealand T20I series has to buy an Amazon subscription to watch it.

Since India is a cricket-crazy nation, a lot of people still bought Amazon subscriptions despite the fact that India was only recently eliminated from the T20 World Cup, but the weather in New Zealand seems to be playing the spoilsport, as it played many a time during the T20 World Cup in Australia as well.

The first T20I between India and New Zealand was washed out due to persistent showers in Wellington, while the second one went through at Bay Oval despite a slight drizzle. Now about an hour before the start of the third T20I in Napier, the news came through that it’s raining in Napier as well.

Indian fans have spent far more money for the India Vs New Zealand series than they usually spend for any other bilateral series

The Indian fans, who spent far more money to buy the Amazon subscription as compared to what they pay for normal Indian TV networks, were very disappointed to know the state of the weather again and one Indian fan, who was quite disappointed, commented on Twitter that it seems like she bought the subscription at such a high price to watch one game only.

There were reactions from the other Indian fans on Twitter as well after it was posted by a popular Twitter handle that it’s currently raining in Napier –

I write a bit on cricket and I am more interested in technical and tactical side of the game, rather than bravado.
